LATERAL HUMERAL CONDYLAR FRACTURE IN A PAEDIATRIC MONTEGGIA TYPE III EQUIVALENT

چکیده

Monteggia fracture dislocations can be classic or equivalents. Equivalents, also known as like lesions, are very rare especially type III and IV, which have been added to the literature after Luis Bado presented original classification system of dislocations. Type equivalent is classically defined a proximal ulna associated with lateral condyle humerus. In only seven such cases reported so far. Here we present two where one eight-year-old boy had complex injury shear humeral other seven-year-old who plastic deformity an avulsion condyle. We try describe novel mechanism injury, as, “Barzulla circle”, for classical well

Monteggia Type IV Equivalent Injury

Equivalent lesions of Monteggia type IV injury have not appeared so far in the literature. Two Monteggia type IV equivalent lesions, which included a fracture of the radial head associated with midshaft fractures of the radius and ulna in a 3- and in a 12-year-old girl, are reported. The lesion presented in this report could be considered as a missing piece in the puzzle of Monteggia and equiva...

Uncommon Variant of Type II Monteggia Fracture with Concomitant Distal Humeral Fracture

Monteggia fracture-dislocation, a common injury sustained by pediatric population, is a rare entity in adults. It was first observed by Giovanni Battista Monteggia and later classified by Bado into 4 groups. The term "Monteggia equivalent or variant" was introduced to describe certain injuries with similar radiographic pattern and biomechanism of injury. Since then various types and their varia...

Type IV Monteggia fracture in a cat.

A one-year-old neutered male cat was referred for a grade IIIA open radius and ulna fracture. The mid-diaphyseal radial and ulnar fractures were associated with lateral radio-humeral and radio-ulnar dislocations. From these abnormalities, a diagnosis of type IV Monteggia fracture was made. The annular ligament was found to be intact on examination and the radial head was correctly positioned an...

Type IV Monteggia fracture in a child.

A 12-year-old boy suffered injuries to his left forearm and elbow in a fall from a bicycle. Radiographs of the left elbow and forearm revealed a type IV Monteggia lesion (Fig. 1). However, length of the ulna and its alignment together with reduction of the radial head were satisfactorily obtained. Thereafter, ...
